(Note: I didn't make these dolls. They are manufactured gift products which will be sold in Autumn 2007. They will also be available in major UK stores for Christmas).

Momiji are kawaii friendship dolls. Each one comes with a secret slot to write a note. I was asked to design a range inspired by japanese street fashion, Harajuku and manga. This was definitely one of the funnest projects I've ever done. I created the diagrams, which were sent to Hong Kong to be sculpted and made. Each one is cast in resin and hand painted. In addition, they are packaged in a cute, illustrated tin that can be used to store things or as a pen-pot.

Sakura Doll - Sakura petals flutter sharing our secrets from the sky. I like pirates and koalas.

Kogal Doll - Kogal let's go dancing in the city of indigo clouds! I like discos and diamonds.

Please check my website (www.chocolatepixels.com) for further updates on prices and retail locations.

I entered the Momiji Doll's design contest today, when I was looking for ideas I saw your Sakura girl and I felt really inspired  Your little designs are so beautiful! I will try to get one of this dolls when I have the chance ^^

I might not have the most popular designs, since it's my first work in vector style, so they're not that pretty, but as you say, it's one of the most funny and helpful projects I've had... I learned a lot of photoshop ^^ hehehehe

Lots of hugs!

how get you the connection too the firm that made
out your designs this dolls?
Was the manufacturin expensive?
Have you not the fear that the company who made this dolls that they steal your Designs to made their own dolls to sell?

Thanks! I was contacted over email after the company saw my Harajuku Army poster on the internet. I don't know the cost of manufacture but normally any product that needs to be moulded and cast (resin/plastic etc) is very expensive to set up but cheap to product large quantities thereafter (similar to plate printing for magazines/newspapers). I'm working for the company as a commissioned designer so they'd have no need to 'steal' any ideas ^_~! If they need any new designs then I'm more than happy to supply them. (There are also contracts involved which comfirm everything ^^)
